From repair to custom fabrication

Turning and milling

Vélsmiðjan Sveinn has specialised in turning since the very beginning — making and repairing machine parts. The workshop has three turning machines, a milling machine, a grinding machine and a CNC turning machine, along with bending machines.

Maintenance and repairs

We provide maintenance for production machinery, whether the work is done on location or the part is brought into the workshop. We always aim to finish quickly and well so that production is interrupted as little as possible. Work has extended beyond Iceland — for example to Denmark, the Faroe Islands and Greenland.

New & custom fabrication

We offer all general new fabrication and custom steel work, including steel construction and welding. The workshop can make and harden custom parts in hardened steel to suit each customer's needs.

Steel hardening

Vélsmiðjan Sveinn is one of few companies in Iceland offering steel hardening. Hardening suits parts that must endure heavy loads — such as axles, gears and knives. The workshop does not accept already-made parts from other manufacturers for hardening, but it hardens the custom parts it makes itself.
